There are many different kinds of ecosystems, but I"m going to discribe just a few. The Boreal forest biome is home to a diverse amount of ecosystems, such as freshwater rivers and lush forests. These ecosystems contain different organisims that live and work together to create a peacful place.
Rivers that contain lots of nutrients will have more plantlife and animals. A river can be oligotrophic which means it has oxygen rich waters but it has a poor popullation of wildlife. Rivers can also be eutrophic which means they have a high amount of nutrients that bring lots of wildlife, this excessive amount of nutrients can be caused by human activities such as pollution or fertilizers. The composition of a river is determined by what sort of rock and minerals it flows over or by what rocks a lake has formed on.

FOREST ECOSYSTEM |

Another flourishing ecosystem is that of the pine and deciduous forest. This ecosystem houses a variety of woodland creatures and vegetation. The mixture of hard and soft wood makes for a diverse population of fungi and moss.
Softwood trees tend to have a cone shape that helps them shed snow in the winter and they grow considerably fast. On the other hand hardwood trees have delicate leaves that catch sunlight, these trees lose their leaves in the fall and regrow them in the spring and tend to grow more slowly than softwood trees.

The Forest Floor
This temperate forest ecosystem nourishes many plants and fungi. The most common types of fungi are the chantrelle mushroom and the Morel mushroom. These are most prevalent in the fall and early spring because this is when there is the most rainfall and cool temperatures. Moss and Lichen usually cover the ground and debris and provide a home for a variety of small creatures. Many types of seeds and berries provide a food source for many animals such as deer and birds. In the fall some trees shed their leaves and small organisms break down the discarded waste and recycle the nutrients for other organisms and plants in need. All these factors and animals work together and form a ecosystem that some of us humans are working to preserve and protect.
